Kirk S. Okumura

Professor of Practice, FSCP® Program Director, Charles J. Zimmerman Chair in Life Insurance Education

Kirk S. Okumura, MSFS, CHFC®, RICP® is professor of practice, FSCP® program director, and the Charles J. Zimmerman Chair in Life Insurance Education at The American College of Financial Services. He is responsible for managing the training and practical academic content, program development, and integration with company training programs for the Financial Services Certified Professional® (FSCP®) designation program and related courses. FSCP® Program content helps financial services professionals learn the necessary product knowledge, marketing, and planning skills to market financial products or to penetrate new markets.

Okumura previously taught in the LUTC Program at The College and wrote study material for LUTC courses, including textbooks and moderator classroom guides. As an author-editor, he rewrote Essentials of Multiline Products and worked on chapters of both Essentials of Long-Term Care Insurance and Techniques for Prospecting: Prospect or Perish. He also was responsible for course revisions to Exploring Personal Markets, Employee Benefits, and Foundations of Retirement Planning.

Outside of academia, Okumura worked for State Farm Insurance as a supervisor in the Pennsylvania regional office’s life/health and agency training areas. Most recently, he was an investment advisor representative with Hoey Investments, where he served as a financial planner and office manager.

Okumura earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education, specializing in mathematics, at Penn State University. He holds a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) from The American College of Financial Services, where he also earned his Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP®) designations.
