Keynote Speaker: Cory Booker

The Honorable Cory A. Booker is the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. He took the oath of office as Mayor of New Jersey's largest city in July 2006 following a sweeping electoral victory, and was re-elected for a second term in another overwhelming majority in 2010.
Elected with a clear mandate for change, Mayor Booker has begun work on realizing a bold vision for the city. As of July 1, 2008, Newark, New Jersey led the nation among large cities for reductions in shootings and murders, achieving decreases of more than 40% reductions in both categories. Radical transformation of the Newark Police Department under Mayor Booker's leadership, together with the deployment of over 100 surveillance cameras throughout City, has led to Newark setting the nationwide pace for crime reduction.
Mayor Booker's political career began in 1998, after serving as Staff Attorney for the Urban Justice Center in Newark. He rose to prominence as Newark's Central Ward Councilman. During his four years of service from 1998-2002, then-Councilman Booker earned a reputation as a leader with innovative ideas and bold actions, from increasing security in public housing to building new playgrounds.
Mayor Booker received his B. A. and M. A. from Stanford University, a B. A. in Modern History at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and completed his law degree at Yale University.
Drawing from a deep belief in service and social justice, Mayor Booker inspires audiences to greater civic responsibility and issues a call to action for America.

Maribeth Kuzmeski is President of the consulting firm, Red Zone Marketing, Inc., founded in 1994. Maribeth and her firm personally consult some of the nation's top financial advisors managing from $250 million to over $1 billion in client assets. She also works with broker dealers and insurance companies on strategic marketing planning, recruiting, and business growth.
Maribeth has written 5 books including the bestsellers …And The Clients Went Wild! (Wiley, 2010) and The Connectors (Wiley, 2009). She is an international keynote speaker and has spoken at the Million Dollar Round Table. She has created many marketing campaigns as well as social media guides for broker dealers, insurance and mutual fund companies.
Maribeth is a regular media contributor appearing on Fox, ABC News, NBC, WGN-TV, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Entrepreneur and Forbes, National Underwriter and Registered Rep. She has a degree in journalism from Syracuse University and has an MBA from The George Washington University. Maribeth lives in the Chicago, IL area with her husband Rich and 2 teenagers.
Byron Pitts

Byron Pitts is a 60 Minutes correspondent and chief national correspondent for CBS News. At 60 Minutes he has reported on the Mexican drug crisis, the earthquake in Haiti, the war in Afghanistan, charter school education and earthquake safety in California. He was one of CBS News' lead reporters during the 9/11 attacks and won a national Emmy award for his coverage. As an embedded reporter covering the Iraq War, he was recognized for his work under fire within minutes of the fall of the Saddam statue. Other major stories covered by Pitts include Hurricane Katrina, the Elian Gonzalez story, the Florida Presidential recount, and the refugee crisis in Kosovo. He garnered recognition as NABJ Journalist of the Year Award in 2002, has won two National Emmy Awards and he is also the recipient of four Associated Press Awards as well as six regional Emmys. Pitts graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a B.A. in journalism and speech communication.
In September of 2009 Pitts published his memoir, entitled Step Out on Nothing, which detailed his childhood struggles with illiteracy and stuttering. He lives with his wife in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Professor Quist-Newins has the distinction of holding the State Farm Chair in Women & Financial Services at The American College. In this role, she works to increase The College's understanding of women's financially related expectations, attitudes, and actions.
During her twenty-year career in financial services, Ms. Quist-Newins has achieved success as both a field producer and a corporate leader. Treasury & Risk recognized her significant contributions to the financial services industry by naming her to the magazine's elite list of "25 Outstanding Leaders in Finance Who Happen to be Women" in November 2008. In 2010, Quist-Newins authored the comprehensive academic textbook, Women and Money, Matters of Trust.
Prior to joining The College, Professor Quist-Newins was a Senior Financial Consultant and Regional Management Associate with Thrivent Financial. While at Thrivent, she consistently performed among the top ranks of producers and qualified for the Million Dollar Round Table every year. In addition to holding a master's in Business Administration from the Garvin School of International Management, and a B.A. from University of Washington, she has earned the Certified Financial Planner®, Chartered Life Underwriter®, and Chartered Financial Consultant® advanced designations.
Ms. Quist-Newins lives in Frederick, MD, with her husband and two children. She is active in numerous charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran World Relief, and Lutheran Social Services.
Allen C. McLellan, LUTCF, CLU®, ChFC®, CASL®, CFP®

Allen is Associate Dean, and Assistant Professor of Insurance and at The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He is a 1971 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and holds a masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
After more than 21 years as an Air Force officer, Allen entered the financial services profession as an insurance and investments field representative. As a ChFC® and CFP® practitioner, Allen produced financial plans for his clients with emphases on retirement and risk management. In addition, Allen is a CASL® and advised senior clients on a variety of issues such as income distribution, health, housing, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
Since joining The American College faculty in 2009, Allen has co-authored Techniques for Exploring Personal Markets, and is the author of Foundations of Financial Planning: An Overview and Foundations of Investment Planning.
He has been married for over 37 years to his wife, Faye, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Tara and Marta. In his spare time, Allen enjoys playing guitar, singing, and song writing.
Delvin L. Joyce, CLU®

Originally from Martinsville, Virginia, Delvin Joyce earned a B.A. in Marketing from James Madison University where he was a member of the football team and broke several school and NCAA records as a running back and kick returner. Shortly after leaving JMU, he signed a free agent contract with the New York Football Giants and played for 3 seasons from 2002-2004. He also had a brief stint with the New York Jets in 2005 before retiring and settling in Charlotte, NC.
Delvin joined Prudential in October of 2006 as a Financial Services Associate focusing on life insurance planning, college savings planning, and retirement planning. In 2007, he was promoted to Manager of Financial Services where his responsibilities included recruiting, training and developing new Financial Services Associates. He was promoted to Associate Managing Director in September of 2010.
Delvin is still very active in the NFL Players Association as a member of the Charlotte Chapter of Retired Players. He is also an active member of the 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte. He and his wife Ebony (a practicing Veterinarian) have three children, Emery, Aubrey and Jalen and they reside in the Highland Creek Community of Northern Charlotte. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and acoustic guitar.

Kevin Sledge completed his B.S. in Accounting from Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ) and his MBA in Finance from Iona College (NY).
Kevin's 20 + year track record in financial services includes 10 years in Corporate Finance roles for Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola and Russell Corporation before focusing on the personal finances for professionals and business owners.
Kevin holds Series 26, 7 and 66 registrations as well as various insurance licenses. His ability to communicate complex topics in a straightforward manner and his emphasis on client education contribute to his excellent professional and personal relationships.
Kevin's hobbies include coaching his son's sports teams, family travel and reading. Kevin is an active member of the Financial Planning Association of Georgia and the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. Kevin is also involved with the Chi Gamma Gamma Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. where he spends time mentoring and teaching financial literacy classes.
Kevin resides with his wife and three sons in Mableton, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta.
