Online Study Tips
Benefits of Online Study Include:
- Resources and services necessary to build knowledge and skills
- The convenience of studying at your own pace, at your own time, from your home or office
- Networking and discussions with colleagues and Subject Matter Experts (SME's)
Tips and Recommendations
- Be active
- Participate - The more you engage in the discussion, the more you learn! Set aside time each day to log on
- Keep up with assignments by checking the Announcements and your Class Work Due Dates
- Ask questions. If there is something you don't know, find out! Send an e-mail to a classmate or the moderator
- Relax - Online learning is the most tailored instructional environment available
Netiquette ("etiquette on the Net")
- Be brief - long messages and files are hard to read on a computer screen. Along the same lines, avoid the inclusion of large graphics
- Be nice - avoid sarcasm and flaming (sending mean and nasty messages) regardless of the situation
- Be careful - what you send in an e-mail or discuss in a group is not necessarily private. Try to avoid double meanings and nuances (one's tone of voice cannot be determined by the written word) and don't shout (use only capital letters)
- Be active - participate and enjoy what your classmates have to offer
