"Living a Life of Significance"
Life insurance industry veteran Joseph W. Jordan debuts his latest book at this year's Knowledge Summit in Las Vegas.

Based on more than 30 years of personal experience, Joseph W. Jordan, Senior Vice President, MetLife, shares his observations on the fundamental changes of the financial services industry; its effect on his own personal journey of discovery; and its impact on how financial professionals today engage and inspire others to act with the best of intentions on behalf of their clients.

Jordan explains, "We can provide peace of mind to families when their loved ones die prematurely. We can provide people with a worry-free retirement, with an income they can't outlive, so they can maintain their independence. We can protect that income if they get sick so they maintain their dignity. And, we can provide a legacy when they die. I believe this book will help my fellow professionals come to the realization that ours is a vocation not simply a profession. "

Initial copies of the book will be provided at no charge to attendees of The American College Knowledge Summit and Commencement in June where Jordan will be a featured presenter. Individuals who cannot attend The Knowledge Summit can order a copy of the book for $14.99, plus shipping.

Veterans Survey Penn Mutual's $2.5 M Gift Creates Center for Veterans Affairs

The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company last week announced a $2.5 million gift to establish a Center for Veterans Affairs at The American College. Thanks to Penn Mutual, The American College will have the resources it needs to reach out to active duty members, reservists and veterans–the heroic men and women of the U.S. armed forces–and offer them their next career of significance.

"Our soldiers are world-class heroes, and they deserve a world-class opportunity in an industry that values their professionalism and commitment to protecting people," notes Eileen McDonnell, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penn Mutual. "This gift of $2.5 million over five years to The American College is just the start–we see unlimited possibilities to identify men and women who would be superb life insurance producers and financial professionals."

The Center will work with a special panel of existing and retired military leaders and insurance industry recruiters to create a "Mission Roadmap" for soldiers who are interested in becoming insurance agents and financial advisors. It is anticipated that the first soldiers will graduate from The College with these designations within two years.
