After Panama, the final South American destination is Cartagena, Colombia. With over 500 years of history, Cartagena will charm you with its quaint streets and boutiques.

These exciting days exploring are punctuated by seven days at sea, where you'll earn top-quality Continuing Education credits in innovative sessions taught by College President, Dr. Larry Barton, CAP®.

The Infinity's boasts world-class dining opportunities at sumptuous and unique restaurants like Blu Restaurant, offering healthy meals with sophistication. Bistro on Five pairs its light fare options with spectacular ocean views, the luxurious SS United States, modeled after historic transatlantic ocean liners, will whisk you back in time. Feeling stressed? Retreat to the AquaSpa, which offers treatments inspired by exotic cultures. If You Ever Want to Pursue the CFP® Certification, You're Running Out of Time to Lock in your Options

Taking action now means you could earn a permanent exemption from a new course CFP Board will require beginning in 2012. CFP Board's rules are changing, including new course and exam requirements. If you are not verified as being in the CFP® program track with The American College by December 31, 2011, you will be required to take a new case-study course to earn your CFP® certification. This extensive course will include both an oral and written financial plan presentation.

Completing courses in the CFP® program track as part of your work for other designations does not mean you have earned the exemption. You must officially be in the program track, and that may involve signing up for an additional course. Call a counselor now to discuss all of your options before time runs out!

Intensive Review Programs Give You an Advantage

The IRP learning format helps students rapidly finish their courses for CLU®, ChFC®, and CFP® certification by combining the best of self-study and classroom review with an onsite exam:

  1. Students register for their course, reviewing all of the textbooks and study material. They have full access to The American College's Online Learning Center, which includes videos, audio reviews, study materials, and practice exams.
  2. Students attend a 2½-day review program with an expert instructor. The session covers the key concepts that will be addressed on the exam, and allows time for student interaction and detailed explanations of the most challenging concepts.
  3. Students take an onsite exam while the material is fresh in their minds. Pass rates generated on these programs are generally higher than traditional self-study pass rates.

Our students love the IRP format:

"I really enjoyed the 2½ day class that I recently attended in Philadelphia, PA. The Instructor was extremely knowledgeable about the Investments material, and he made it easy to understand. I had heard previously that this was a very difficult course, and he made it easy to comprehend and successfully complete the exam."

"The material presented was very relevant, and although it was geared towards the test material, I believe there was better absorption of the material due to how it was taught."

"The instructor's intelligence, coupled with wit and humor, kept us engaged for the full 2.5 day review. She synthesized complex material into very simplistic terms and demonstrated empathy, patience, and expertise whenever questions arose."

"Living a Life of Significance is essential reading for your practice and your soul."

Living a Life of Significance, a New Book by Industry Legend, Joe Jordan, Available Now!

"A must read for anyone in our business."
-Bob Benmosche, Chief Executive Officer, AIG

This amazing new book is sure to impact your connection to this incredible profession and every customer you serve.

Joseph W. Jordan, Senior Vice President, Behavioral Finance Strategies at MetLife, and a life insurance industry veteran, is well known for his speeches and advocacy programs that inspire financial professionals around the world. Now, he has written a book, Living a Life of Significance, which builds on his work as a thought leader in behavioral finance, client-centric tools, ethical selling and client advocacy. Living a Life of Significance chronicles Joe's professional experiences and the lessons he learned in his long career.

While the book is Joe's story, it's less about him and more about you. It's about the reader's journey — a reaffirmation of the value financial advisors have and the incredible impact they have on their clients, their loved ones, and on their legacy. The book was written with the intent to help everyone in the financial services business come to the realizations of self-worth, that they are all heroes and that it's not just about the commissions. It's a must-read for anyone who works or is interested in a career in the financial industry.

Jordan explains, "We can provide peace of mind to families when their loved ones die prematurely. We can provide people with a worry-free retirement, with an income they can't outlive, so they can maintain their independence. We can protect that income if they get sick so they maintain their dignity. And, we can provide a legacy when they die. I believe this book will help my fellow professionals come to the realization that ours is a vocation, not simply a profession. "
