Dr. Barbara Stucki. Ph.D. heads up the Home Equity Initiative for the National Council on Aging (NCOA). In this role she directs NCOA’s efforts as a HUD HECM Counseling Intermediary, including the NCOA Reverse Mortgage Counseling Services network. Dr. Stucki also conducts consumer and policy research that examines how low-to-moderate income seniors, and those with a disability, can appropriately use home equity to live at home. She wrote the consumer booklet, and developed a new online Financial Interview Tool (FIT) that will soon be included as part of mandatory HUD reverse mortgage counseling.
Prior to working at NCOA, Dr. Stucki conducted policy research for the American Council of Life Insurers and AARP. She has testified before Congress and the Federal Reserve Board. The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Business Week, Fortune Magazine, Bloomberg News, Washington Post, Money Magazine, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine, and National Public Radio have quoted her on her research.
