Protecting aging clients from financial abuse ranked top ethical concern among financial advisors

The American College research finds majority of advisors fear lack of financial education among clients and advisors as the leading cause of financial harm

BRYN MAWR, PA, March 28, 2016 – A survey of retirement income planning professionals found that over 80 percent of respondents are concerned about protecting their clients from financial elder abuse. In fact, out of all the ethical concerns facing retirement advisors, protecting clients from financial elder abuse was the top ranked ethical concern. However, the respondents did not see elder abuse as a common occurrence among their own clients.
