Lang Dixon LEAD Award


The American College of Financial Services has now closed its nominations for its second annual Lang Dixon LEAD (Leadership and Excellence in Achieving Diversity) Award. The award honors an African American financial services professional who has made a significant impact in the financial services profession in the area of diversity and inclusion of African Americans.

The first Lang Dixon LEAD Award was presented at The 2018 Conference of African American Financial Professionals in memory of Lang Dixon, CLU®. Dixon was a successful life insurance agent and mentor who believed in giving back to his profession.

The award recognizes African American financial services professional with at least five years of experience working in the area of insurance, investments, or wealth management. The ideal candidate holds a designation from The American College or a CFP®, and is an active member of at least one financial services organization.

The recipient of the award shows outstanding performance and leadership in one or more of the following areas:

  1. Developed innovative methods for increasing and valuing the diversity of African American financial professionals through recruitment and retention.
  2. Provided professional development to African American financial professionals (mentorship, sponsorship, or training).
  3. Created leadership teams that promote a diverse and inclusive culture for African Americans.
  4. Sponsored, created or actively promoted programs, initiatives, or projects in the area of diversity.

The honoree will receive The Lang Dixon LEAD Award and will be recognized at The American College’s 14th Annual Conference of African American Financial Professional’s (CAAFP) opening dinner on August 5, 2019, in Atlanta, GA.
