Michael C. “Mike” Davidson, MSM, CLU®, CAP®, is Adjunct Professor of Agency Excellence at The American College of Financial Services where he has taught since 2012 in the Chartered Leadership Fellow® (CLF®) designation and Master of Science in Management (MSM) programs. Mr. Davidson served as Chair of The American College Board of Trustees from 2010 – 2011, and was a member of The College’s Foundation Board of Directors. In recognition of his support of The College and his dedication to financial services education and professionalism, The College presented Mr. Davidson with the Huebner Gold Medal in 2013. Named for its founder, Dr. Solomon S. Huebner, it is the institution’s highest honor. He also served as Acting President of The College in 2014 leading to the appointment in October of that year of The College’s current President and CEO, Dr. Robert Johnson, CFA®, CAIA®.
Over 34 years of financial services and leadership experience began in 1978 when Mr. Davidson joined State Farm® as an agent in Richmond, MO. He became Agency Manager of the Kansas City, MO, office three years later and continued moving up State Farm’s leadership ranks over the next decade in a variety of capacities including Agency Director, Executive Assistant—Agency, and Deputy Regional Vice President. In 1994, he became Vice President—Agency at corporate headquarters in Bloomington, IL. From 1998 – 2003, he continued his upward climb as Regional Vice President, a Senior Vice President and member of the Chairman’s Council. In 2005, he became Vice Chairman and Chief Agency and Marketing Officer, a post he held until he retired in 2012.
During his tenure at State Farm, he was also Executive Vice President of State Farm Fire and Casualty Company, and Executive Vice President and Chief Agency and Marketing Officer of State Farm Life Insurance Company, State Farm Life and Accident Assurance Company and State Farm Annuity and Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Board of Directors, and is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and the Illinois Life Insurance Council.
Mr. Davidson received a bachelor’s degree from Central Missouri State University. He earned the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designations from The American College, and was awarded an honorary Master of Science in Management (MSM) degree in 2012 for his leadership and commitment to The College.
