Frank Summers

CFP®, ADPA

Adjunct Professor of Insurance

Frank Summers, CFP®, ADPA, is an adjunct professor at The American College of Financial Services teaching in the Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) Program.

In addition to teaching at The College, Summers is also a financial planner affiliated with Cetera Investors. His practice includes specialties in working with LGBTQ+ people and single professionals on holistic financial planning.

Summers has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services. He began his career in a field office for State Mutual and eventually moved into the home office, where he worked in Advanced Markets—including Corporate-Owned Life Insurance (COLI)—before moving into life insurance product management. He also worked for MetLife in life insurance marketing, and later led digital marketing/social media efforts for MetLife’s advisor channel.

Summers holds the CFP® certification and the Accredited Domestic Partner Advisor (ADPA) designation. He is a graduate of Lesley University, where he received a bachelor of science in management, and has completed Boston University’s financial planning program. He is Series 7 and 66 licensed and has North Carolina Life, Accident, and Health and Long-Term Care licenses.

Professionally, Frank is active with the PridePlanners group of the Financial Planning Association. On a personal level, he is active with the Rainbow Foster Network (in support of LGBTQ+ kids in foster care) and is a community educator for the Alzheimer’s Association. He lives in Charlotte, NC, with his two cats, who enjoy making guest-star appearances during classes on Zoom.
