Executive Vice President and Provost
Gwen Hall, PhD is executive vice president and provost at The American College of Financial Services, serving as the chief academic officer and leading the academics department. Hall previously served as The College’s associate provost and vice president of student experience.
Before coming to The College, Hall was vice provost at the American Public University System (APUS). During her tenure at APUS from 2005 to 2020, she served in several positions including: chief of staff for the office of the president; associate provost of academic effectiveness and student success; academic operations officer; and dean of the School of Security and Global Studies.
Hall is a retired Air Force officer; her last assignment was as chief of the National Security Policy Division at Headquarters Air Force. Before arriving at the Pentagon in 2002, Colonel Hall was deployed to the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) at Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia as the director of the Combined Forces Air Component Commander’s Action Group. She also served as a consultant to the Department of Homeland Security, where her work included homeland security strategic planning, infrastructure security, and resiliency planning for 18 critical infrastructure sectors.
From 1999 to 2002, Hall was the commander and director of operations of the Dean of Faculty Squadron at the United States Air Force Academy. She was also a member of the superintendent's primary senior advisory board, advising on all admissions, disenrollments, disciplinary matters, and major academy policies.
Hall was also a member of the congressionally chartered Department of Defense Threat Reduction Advisory Committee (TRAC) and served on the board of advisors for the Naval Post Graduate School and Naval War College. Currently, she serves on the academic committee for Catholic Distance University.
Hall holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Maryland, a master’s degree in public policy, and a doctorate in national security studies from the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
