Arthur “Art” Prunier, Jr., is an adjunct instructor at The American College of Financial Services and is currently engaged in an encore career as a financial educator. He FIRE’d (Financial Independence — Retire Early) at age 53 from a career as a materials science researcher for The Dow Chemical Company, freeing up more time to explore investing and retirement planning.
In 2009, Prunier began teaching retirement planning classes for interested adults, originally to live classes in Michigan and Ohio. Since Covid-19, his adult-education retirement planning classes have been conducted online, with participants from about half the states in the U.S. Since 2018, he has worked at The College, teaching within the Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) designation program. He is passionate about helping boomer retirees prepare for a satisfying retirement and believes that the most efficient method to do so is to equip financial advisers with the advanced retirement planning skills to intelligently guide these clients. He has practical experience as well as expertise in both the financial and non-financial aspects of life in retirement.
Prunier has a Master’s of Science in Financial Services (MSFS) with a concentration in retirement planning from The College. He also has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geological sciences from Virginia Tech as well as a doctorate in ceramic science and engineering from The Ohio State University.
