Options for select financial professionals

The CFP Board, which administers CFP® certification, maintains an Accelerated Path Capstone Program allowing students with certain academic degrees or professional credentials – including ChFC®, CLU®, CPA, CFA®, licensed attorney, Doctor of Business Administration, or PH.D. in financial planning, finance, business administration, or economics —  the ability to qualify to bypass coursework and earn their CFP® certification.

These individuals still need to successfully complete a Capstone course. The American College of Financial Services offers Personal Financial Planning: Comp. Case Analysis (HS 333) as the approved Capstone course for our CFP® Certification Education Program. 

Requirements

According to the CFP Board, to meet the requirements the Accelerated Path Capstone Program students must:

  • Complete the Capstone course or Capstone alternative
  • Pass the CFP® exam
  • Complete the experience hours required for certification
  • Submit an official transcript for a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university, to complete the education requirement
