Eric Ludwig, PhD, CFP®, RICP®, and Zach Morley, RICP®, former Wisconsin Badger and college basketball player, discuss retirement income planning and more in a special edition of Shares.

In this episode, join Eric Ludwig and Zach Morley as they discuss hoops, retirement planning, and more as they debate the top retirement income stragies in a head-to-head bracket to see who emerges as the champion.

Eric Ludwig, PhD, CFP®, RICP®, is an accomplished retirement income planning expert, assistant professor of retirement income, and RICP® program director. As director of the Center for Retirement Income at The American College of Financial Services, Eric is passionate about developing research and innovative solutions that help investors achieve financial security and personal fulfillment, two essential components of overall retirement well-being.

Zach Morley, RICP®, serves clients as part of Wisconsin Financial Group, partnering with high-achieving professionals, executives, and business owners to transform their peak earning years into comprehensive, tax-efficient retirement strategies built for lasting financial security.

Before entering financial services, Zach built an exceptional athletic career. As a standout forward for the University of Wisconsin Badgers (2003–2005), where he earned All-Big Ten Tournament honors, he went on to enjoy a distinguished 10-year professional career across Europe's premier leagues. That decade abroad — navigating diverse cultures, high-pressure environments, and constant adaptation — shaped how he works today: master the fundamentals, remain disciplined through uncertainty, adapt strategically when circumstances change, and never lose sight of the long game.

Beyond his practice, Zach is deeply invested in his community — serving on the Board of Directors for Easterseals Wisconsin, Middleton Basketball Club and actively coaching his children's youth sports teams. Whether working with clients, mentoring young athletes, or serving in the community, his mission is the same: help people build something meaningful that lasts.

Zach resides in Middleton, Wisconsin, with his wife, Rachel, and their four children.
