Managing Director, American College Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services

Associate Professor of Business Ethics, Charles Lamont Post Chair of Business Ethics, The American College of Financial Services

Azish Filabi, JD, MA, is an accomplished executive, board member, researcher, and speaker focusing on corporate governance, financial regulation, responsible AI policy, and business ethics and compliance. She is the managing director of the American College Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services, the Charles Lamont Post Chair, and an associate professor of business ethics.  

After practicing corporate law and serving as counsel and A.V.P. at the NY Fed, she transitioned to executive roles in industry and academia. She writes about responsible AI, ethical culture and leadership strategies in business, and financial regulation and ethics, including environmental, social and governance considerations in investing.  

In her current role as managing director of the Center for Ethics in Financial Services, she develops strategies and programs to advance the Center’s mission, including spearheading the Center's annual Mitchell Forum on Ethical Leadership and its Advanced Strategies in Building Trust certificate program, which she founded. She also teaches and designs courses for The College's Master of Science in Financial Planning (MSFP) program and professional designation programs.  

As a recognized speaker, researcher, and writer, she has published over 35 pieces in outlets including Fortune, Financial Advisor Magazine, Behavioral Scientist, the Journal of Business Ethics, the NYU Compliance & Enforcement blog, Thomson Reuters, and the Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems, among others. She is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Business Ethics. She has spoken at the United Nations (UNCITRAL), the OECD, and the U.S. Department of Energy, numerous companies and conferences, and in 2013 she conducted training on financial regulation to central bankers in Nairobi, Kenya.
 
Her leadership extends into the community, having served on 11 trustee and advisory boards — including a ’40 Act Fund board, multiple non-profit boards, and advisory committees — with active participation in nominating and governance committees. In 2022, she was selected by her peers to chair the international section of the NY State Bar Association, a 2,000-member organization, and the association's strategic planning committee in 2023. Since 2010, she's been the co-chair and co-founder of the social finance and enterprise committee. In 2024, she was nominated to co-chair of the NY City Bar Association's Presidential Task Force on Artificial Intelligence subcommittee on AI in commerce and finance.  

She enjoys hiking and exploring wine country in Virginia and New York’s Hudson Valley, and currently lives in Charlottesville, VA.
